Enter your pet's information under "My Pets": their name, what type of animal they are, their date of birth and whether you have any insurance for them.
To conduct a video call, you need to create an appointment and choose a time, you can easily do this through "Book a video call" or "My Pets". Choose your animal and enter its information and any symptoms it's displaying. You can also upload pictures if you think it could help facilitate our assessment.
Select the next available time, or later, if it suits you better. If your pet is insured, you often have access to complimentary video calls through your insurance company, so make sure you choose the right insurance company when you enter your animal's information. If your pet insurance company does not support FirstVet, you can pay with credit card, or with Apple/Google Pay.
Before your appointment begins, our veterinarian will review the data and photos you have submitted. Open the app at the scheduled start time and click "Start video call" when your veterinarian calls you in the app. All contacts are encrypted and secure. It's always good to have your animal close by during the video call, so our vet can see it and make a more thorough assessment.
Our video chat consultations mean that everything is recorded for you. We give you the transcripts and medical journals so you have easy access to any treatment recommendations or diagnoses. Your pet's medical record is saved for future meetings. If our veterinarian concludes that your animal needs additional care, you will be referred to your local veterinary clinic. FirstVet is completely independent and has a nationwide catalogue of veterinary clinics, so you can always meet the right veterinarian as soon as possible.
