Ask the vet - Rabbit

Can I clip my rabbit’s teeth at home if I notice they are crooked or too long?

Vet at FirstVet answers:

Rabbits’ teeth should never be cut/clipped due to the risk of causing the teeth to crack and thereby infections to take root. Long and crooked teeth should be rasped; it is not recommended to do this manually due to the risk of injuring the lips and tongue.

The best thing to do is to contact a veterinarian who has experience with rabbit dentistry. The veterinarian will have the equipment required to modify the dental problem. This will likely be performed with the help of an anaesthetic. Often the molars also require rasping. Occasionally removal of the incisors (front teeth) will be recommended.
