After qualifying as a vet in 2007, Horatio moved to the UK to work for the Food Standard Agency. After that he undertook a small animal rotating internship in a referral hospital where he developed an interest in small animal surgery. He then moved back into small animal practice and undertook a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery, which he passed with commendations in 2015. In 2019 he was recognised by the MRCVS as an advanced practitioner in small animal surgery. At present he is working in a referral hospital where he manages surgical referrals from veterinary surgeons in first opinion practices across the Midlands. He is the co-author of several peer reviewed case reports and he regularly holds CPD sessions for the veterinary surgeons in his area.
