Ask the vet - Dog
My dog ate raw chicken, is that dangerous?
Vet at FirstVet answers:
Problems may arise if the piece of chicken contained bones or was contaminated with certain types of bacteria.
In the worse case scenario chicken bones can damage the stomach or intestines or cause constipation.
Raw chicken can contain bacteria such as Salmonella and Campylobacter that make dogs (and humans) ill.
It is recommended to give small portions of easily digested food and probiotics (available as a paste or powder) to your dog if it gets an upset tummy.
If, however, your dog ate a large amount of uncooked chicken or if your dog develops severe vomiting or diarrhoea as a consequence, it is advised to seek veterinary advice and care.
