Ask the vet - Dog

My dog is limping, what should I do?

Vet at FirstVet answers:

If there are no obvious wounds, your dog otherwise seems well and only has a slight limp it is OK to let your dog rest for a few days to see if it recovers. A lame dog should only take very short walks on the lead and avoid playing, walking in stairs and jumping up and down from things (including in and out of the car).

If you have questions regarding your dog’s lameness, book a video call with us. However, if your dog is very lame, is not weight bearing, seems unwell or in a lot of pain it is important to seek veterinary care as soon as possible.
