Ask the vet - Dog

Can I give my dog raw egg whites?

Vet at FirstVet answers:

Raw egg whites contain the protein avidin which binds to biotin (a type of vitamin B). This prevents biotin from being absorbed by the body. When the egg is cooked avidin is broken down and can no longer bind to biotin. If you give dogs raw egg white everyday there is therefore a risk of vitamin B deficiency. To feed your dog an egg every now and then is not a problem, but if you want to feed raw eggs you must ensure they come from Salmonella free farms.
