Cheese is not poisonous to dogs, but you should not feed your dog too much of it due to its high fat content. Dogs cannot digest fat as well as humans can and even small amounts can result in pancreatitis (a painfully inflamed pancreas), vomiting and diarrhoea. Cheese also has a very high calorie content, and feeding your dog cheese regularly will result in obesity. Consuming unpasteurised cheese has the same risks in dogs as it does in humans - bacterial infections such as Listeriosis.
