Vet at FirstVet answers:
It is always recommended to consult a veterinarian when there are any issues regarding your pet’s eyes. It can be very difficult to see the difference between an uncomplicated conjunctivitis (inflammation of the eyelids) and a deep or more serious problem with the eye (such as glaucoma, uveitis and corneal ulcers). The best thing to do is to keep the affect eye clean by cleansing it with saline (available at the pharmacy) and preventing the dog from getting to it by using a buster collar.
