Ask the vet - Dog

A yellow, sticky fluid is dripping from my dog’s foreskin. What is it, and how can I treat it?

Vet at FirstVet answers:

Balanitis (inflammation of the penis and/or foreskin) can result in a yellow, sticky discharge from the penis. Uncastrated males normally have a little bit of penile discharge, but if the dog is irritated and is licking itself a lot it can be wise to purchase a cleansing agent suitable for this particular problem. These treatments can be purchased at your local veterinary clinic. It is important to use a buster collar so that your dog cannot lick itself and cause any further infection or injury. Contact a veterinarian if the skin is very irritated, swollen or tender, or if it does not improve after a couple of days of cleansing.
