There are a few rules of thumb regarding seeking emergency veterinary care for vomiting and diarrhoea:
- If a dog has blood in its stool or vomit.
- If the dog cannot keep water down or does not want to drink despite the fact it has vomited or had diarrhoea several times.
- If the dog is very slow, tired, and does not want to do things it normally likes doing, such as going on a walk.
If you have a puppy that is vomiting or has diarrhoea you should contact a veterinary clinic if there has been more than one episode of either vomiting or diarrhoea. Puppies are a lot more sensitive and become dehydrated a lot more easily than adult dogs do.
