Is it dangerous to give your dog liver pâté that contains onion powder?

Vet at FirstVet answers:

Onions are poisonous to dogs. About 15-30g of raw onion per kg body weight can result in problems. Onion powder is dried onion and therefore more concentrated than raw onion; smaller amounts result in intoxication. Generally you should avoid giving dogs products that contain onions. If you want to give your dog a little bit of liver pâté as a treat every now and then it is OK but choose a pâté that does not contain onion. You should not give your dog products that contain onions daily since the risk of intoxication increases if the dog consumes onion repeatedly over a short period of time.
