My female dog has accidentally been mated. what can be done to prevent her from having puppies?

Vet at FirstVet answers:

If your female dog has been accidentally mated, or you are concerned that this may have happened, there are two options to avoid pregnancy:1. A set of hormone injections 24hrs apart that prevent pregnancy/induce an abortion. These typically are expensive, often as much as a spay. They can be used up to day 45 post mating.
2. Speak to your vet about spaying your dog immediately. Normally spays are done 2-3months after a season when there is a lower risk of bleeding, in cases like this however, some vets are happy to neuter earlier to terminate the pregnancy. This option also prevents her being able to have puppies again in the future.
