It is always good to consider the pros and cons before using tick prevention. Tick preventatives are medications, and just like all other medications, can have side effects. If your dog is currently on other treatments/medications it is best to seek veterinary advice before putting your dog on tick prevention. The area in which you and your dog live is also important to consider; city dogs that rarely visit tick infested areas are not in as high of a need to use tick preventatives compared to a dog that spends most of its time in nature. Tick prevention is recommended if you tend to pick ticks off your dog and you live in an area where there is Lyme Disease.
