Vet at FirstVet answers:
Dogs are often taken to the vet with vomiting and diarrhoea. The causes behind these symptoms vary. Most of the time it is due to your dog eating something inappropriate (similar to food poisoning in people) or because of a viral infection. It can, however, be a lot more sinister, for example, when an item eaten has caused an obstruction in the stomach or bowel, requiring life-saving surgery. Other conditions, such as inflammatory stomach and intestinal diseases, pancreatitis, kidney and liver disease, as well as poison consumption are just a few of many other reasons why your dog may have an upset tummy.
