Vet at FirstVet answers:
Normal cat faeces is shaped like a thin sausage and is brown in colour. It often has a very pungent, malodorous, smell.
Cats often cover their faeces in the litter tray or outside. If your cat is not doing this it can be a sign that it does not like the litter tray. For example, the litter tray may be too dirty or too small, or the litter may not be to your cat’s liking.
If there is any blood or mucus (slime) in your cat’s poo you should contact a vet. It is never normal for a cat to have mucus or blood in its faeces.
