How is feline acne treated?

Vet at FirstVet answers:

Feline acne is usually identified by small black dots or crusts on the chin, but in the more advanced cases can involve deep abscesses that are painful. It is a condition that mostly affects young cats that often goes away on its own.

If your cat only has black dots (comedones) on its chin it is a cosmetic problem and does not require treatment. If you insist on trying to get rid of the comedones you can use wet wipes known as MalAcetic Wipes on the affected area 1 to two times weekly. These wipes are specifically formulated for cats and dogs and can be purchased at your local veterinary clinic. Human skin care products should never be used on cats due to the different pH values of cat vs. human skin.

Veterinary consultation is recommended if the cat has more severe acne. Contact us for advice.
