Ask the vet - Cat
Why is my cat twitching its ears and scratching at them?
Vet at FirstVet answers:
Itchy ears are commonly associated with ear infections. Cats that spend time outdoors can get ear mites, but they can also get ear infections, just like we do. There are prescription free medications registered for use against ear mites in cats. Contact us for advice regarding which products to use.
If your cat is already on products against ear mites, or if you have tried using one and it has had no effect, you should book an appointment with a veterinarian. The vet will examine the ears with an otoscope, and will likely take a sample to see if, and what kind of infection may have settled in your cat’s ears. The appropriate medication will then be prescribed accordingly.
