Ask the vet - Cat
How do I know if my cat is overweight?
Vet at FirstVet answers:
A healthy cat should have slightly visible ribs that are felt when you pet it. If you view the cat from above it should have a distinct waist. There should not be a fat pouch hanging from the abdomen.
The best way to determine whether your cat has a healthy weight is by referring to a body condition score diagram. Search for “BCS royal canin cat” and you will find a diagram with a 9-point scale that you can use to compare with your cat.
Make sure to ask the veterinarian or vet nurse regarding your cat’s weight the next time you visit the vet. You can also weigh your cat at home once a month to see if its weight fluctuates.
