Ask the vet - Cat

Can cats and humans pass the flu/cold back and forth between each other?

Vet at FirstVet answers:

The human common cold can not infect cats. With exception of certain bacterial infections (such as Salmonella, Campylobacter and E. Coli), it is generally very rare that infections pass between humans and cats.

If a person’s immune system is compromised, such as from chemotherapy, some disease that normally do not pass between animals and people can become a problem.
