Where are the anal glands located?

The anal glands are found about one cm in the anal opening at 10 and 2 o’clock. 

If there are swellings on each side of the anus and if your cat is licking itself around its bottom it might have an infected or impacted anal gland. Sometimes you can see two small black dots at the side of the anus – these are dried anal gland discharge.
