Ask the vet - Cat

My cat is unable to use its hind legs. What should I do?

Vet at FirstVet answers:

If your cat has suddenly lost the ability to use its hind legs you need to seek emergency veterinary care immediately.

Conditions that result in paralysis include blod clots, herniated discs, spinal fractures and traumatic injury to the hind legs. If the paralysis is due to a blod clot the hind legs will often feel colder than the forelimbs. Blood clots are usually associated with heart disease, are often painful and can be difficult to treat.
