Ask the vet - Cat

I have found a cat that does not seem to have an owner. What should I do?

Vet at FirstVet answers:

It is a good idea to check if the cat has an identification tag, any ear tattoos or microchips. Contact the closest veterinary clinic and ask them to check if it has a microchip. If it does, it might be registered and the rightful owner can be found. If it does not have a microchip it might still have an owner. Take a photo of the cat and post it in social media to spread the word that you have found a lost cat. If you still have no luck in finding the owner, contact the Cats Protection's National Information Line on 03000 12 12 12 for more advice.

If the cat is injured or sick you should contact the RSPCA (UK), USPCA (Northern Ireland) or SSPCA (Scotland).
