What can cause epileptic-like fits?

Epileptic-like fits can result from the following conditions: 

    li>Brain haemorrhage
  • Inflammatory processes
  • Traumatic head injury
  • li>Severe liver disease and electrolyte imbalances
  • Epilepsy
  • Tumours, primarily in older cats
  • Certain toxins 
  • /ul>p>In order to find out what has caused the fits a basic neurological examination including blood tests need to be performed. Epidural samples as well as CT and MRIs might also be required.
