Why do rabbits bite?

Vet at FirstVet answers:

Does (female rabbits) tend to bite more than bucks (male rabbits) do. Un-neutered rabbits are more likely to defend their territory. Unfortunately spaying or castrating your rabbit will not guarantee that it will stop biting.

Rabbits use their mouths and paws to play, dig, move things, and build nests. Rabbits can also bite playfully and often owners can tell the difference between territorial and playful biting.

You should never punish your rabbit for biting; this may worsen the behaviour. Instead give your rabbit treats when it is behaving well. If your rabbit gets territorial when you are trying to handle it in its cage try to distract it to stop it from biting, for example, by offering it treats. Never let children handle a rabbit in situations when it is known to bite.
