Ask the vet - Rabbit
Is it dangerous to anaesthetise rabbits?
Vet at FirstVet answers:
There are always risks involved with anaesthetising animals of any kind. Rabbits are prey animals and easily become stressed. The anaesthetic risk is therefore higher in rabbits than it is in for example dogs and cats. Statistically there is a 3% risk for anaesthetic complications in healthy rabbits. This is based on data from clinics that have staff who specialise in or are very used to anaesthetising rabbits.
The most important thing to ensure after your rabbit has been anaesthetised is that it starts eating and pooping as soon as possible. If it does not pass any faeces and refuses to eat you must contact a veterinary clinic/hospital for advice and help.
