Ask the vet - Rabbit
My rabbit is bringing up mucus and fluids from its nose and mouth. What can be causing this?

You need to seek veterinary care immediately. Unfortunately only serious diseases and conditions result in these types of symptoms.
Rabbits cannot vomit. Any fluid coming out of a rabbit’s nose or mouth is likely associated with a respiratory tract infection. Rabbits are obligate nasal breathers and can suffocate if their nose becomes clogged with mucus.
If your rabbit is old it might be suffering from heart failure. As a result the lungs fill with fluid, which then comes out through the nose and mouth.
Cancer and pneumonia can also cause fluids to flow out of the mouth and nose.
