Ask the vet - Rabbit

Why do does pull fur off of their abdomen?

Vet at FirstVet answers:

An entire doe pulls fur off of its abdomen in order to build a nest. This is a normal behaviour and occurs in pregnant does as well as the non-pregnant that suffer from false pregnancy. A normal false pregnancy goes away after about 3 weeks. To prevent this behaviour from reoccurring it is recommended to spay your doe.

Rabbits also pull out their fur when they are in pain or are bored. It is therefore recommended to book an appointment with a veterinarian if your rabbit does not stop pulling its fur out.
