Why do rabbits chew on the cage wire?
Vet at FirstVet answers:
Some rabbits chew on the cage wire if they are bored, miss company or have too few things available in their cage to chew on. The chewing tends to stop once the rabbit’s environment has become enriched with for example a lot of straw to dig in, branches to chew on, company from other rabbits as well as availability to a larger area to explore.
A lot of rabbits can live outside of a cage. They can learn to use a litter tray, just like a cat. If one rabbit proofs one’s home by removing cables, etc, it can work very well to let a rabbit live loose in the house.
