How is pneumonia treated?

There are different types of pneumonia which in turn, require different treatments. 

Pneumonia can be caused by both bacteria and viruses. An aspiration pneumonia occurs when an animal has accidentally breathed content into their lungs (for example food or vomit). 

The symptoms vary but often the cat will show signs of fatigue, fever and cough. In more severe cases the cat may refuse to eat, lose weight and develop severe breathing difficulties. 

A veterinarian should always be consulted if you suspect your cat has pneumonia
